We've come a long way

Eniac- The worlds first electronic, large scale, general purpose digital computer

alternative browsing devices

Quite a lot of web browsing is done on these. Our compliant code ensures that you're reaching people using:

Smartphones
Mobile phone with personal computer like functionality.
BlackBerry
Wireless handheld device with e-mail, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing, etc.
Personal digital assistants (PDAs)
Also called pocket computers or palmtop computers.
Mobile Data Terminal (MDT)
Used in police cars and other fleet-type vehicles to communicate with a central dispatch.
Readers
Vision impaired users rely on devices that actually read a web site's content. With W3C compliant code, they actually get descriptions of images and link destinations as well.

With improper coding, all of these potential users are effectively ignored.

web site languages

HTML
Organizes words and images that make up a web page's content. A group of words becomes a list, paragraph or heading only because the HTML says it is so.
XHTML
The stricter, and therefore more universally reliable, cousin to HTML. XHTML organizes words and images that make up a web page's content. A group of words becomes a list, paragraph or heading only because the XHTML says it is so.
CSS
Where HTML or XHTML organizes the content of a web page, CSS creates the style. A group of words becomes a red or bold only because the CSS says it is so.
JavaScript
A computer language. JavaScript can:
  • Make images, buttons, and text change when you hover or click,
  • Create pop-up menus,
  • Determine the user's browser,
  • Check that a form is properly filled-out,
  • etc.
MySQL
Pronounced 'my s-q-l', MySQL is used to build datadases of all sizes
PHP
Used to create dynamic web pages. With PHP, a site can change its behavior and appearance based on your input. PHP is commonly used to retreive information from a MySQL database.
Flash (or Adobe Flash, once called Macromedia Flash)
Flash is a program, file and player for creating and playing animated and interactive web elements. They can be fun, unique and, well, flashy. On the downside, a web user requires the Flash player to view a Flash site or element. Flash, however, has been around since 1996, and most computers already have it installed. It can also create lengthy downloads and SEO problems.
